Want your phone to ring off the hook? Get creative and leverage the viral power of social media. Nestle Crunch has recently come up with a social media marketing tactic that seems to be paying huge dividends—if their non-stop busy signal is any indication. Feel like a kid again is the latest Nestle Crunch social media campaign…it’s fun, creative, and, if just a little…”makes you feel like a kid again.”
If you wish to learn first hand what I’m talking about…here is what you need to do. Call Nestle at 1-800-295-0051. When you are asked if you want to continue in English or Spanish, just wait for about 10 seconds and you get a chuckle. Keep going and then press #4…it gets better! If you get a busy signal, keep trying, it took me a while to get through. You can also check out the Nestle CrunchPlayground, all meant to, “make you feel like a kid again.”

I ran across an interesting new concept that I thought I’d share. Bulbstorm is a fairly new social networking community site where innovative individuals, experts, and companies come together to share, improve, and market new concepts for products and services.
The site makes it easy for users to share ideas or contribute on the implementation of other’s ideas. The site uses a system of currency, called the WATT$, which users earn by contributing Bulbs (Ideas) or collaborating on other’s Bulbs. Users can restrict access to their ideas (Bulbs) in a number of ways if they so chose.

FetchBack - The Retargeting Company, introduces Engagement Mapping for Retargeting. This allows Advertisers to review and determine the value Retargeting provides for each individual conversion. This is the first attribution management solution of its kind for Retargeting. Thanks to FetchBack’s Engagement Mapping tool, it is now possible to see when a consumer viewed a Retargeted ad, how many Retargeted ads that consumer viewed, and how long after viewing those ads it took the consumer to convert. The Advertiser can then determine how much of an effect that had on their decision to purchase by assigning a value to each time a consumer viewed an ad. Click here to read more…

Web 2.0 website features and tools continue to impress. I recently ran into a company that allows website owners to integrate a speaking avatar. Before you say something like “I’m not into video games. Or, what the hell is an ‘Avatar’?” Let me explain…SitePal has created a software app that lets you easily create and add an animated speaking character to your web site, Flash application, email, blog, PowerPoint or even eBay auction—making it more personal and persuasive.
You can use any number of SitePal’s avatar models/characters, or, you can even send them a picture of yourself and they will create a custom avatar just for you. You can also select any number of backgrounds, or, customize that too. You can create little sample movies and embed them throughout your site in order to better interact with your visitors. SitePal even has an API and a host of options to choose from. For example, you could have your Avatar thank someone once they’ve completed a task or form on your website. Or, they have an FAQ solution where the user types in their question and an Avatar answers it for them. I’ve always said, the more senses you can touch, the more apt you are to convert a prospect into a customer. SitePal’s technology allows you to really connect with your prospects in some amazing new ways. I encourage you to check out this exciting new technology. Everyone has heard of Facebook, MySpace and Twitter as the current kings of social media, but there are some rising stars out there. I have compiled a top-ten list with a disclaimer…the following list is based on Alexa data (which I have found to not always be accurate). In addition, there are many other social media-like sites out there that are more popular than the ones listed here…so, take this list for what it’s worth and perhaps be introduced to something new.
Facebook – A social utility that connects people, to keep up with friends, upload photos and share links and videos.
YouTube - YouTube is a way to get your videos to the people who matter to you. Upload, tag and share your videos worldwide!
Myspace - A social networking site that I’m surprised is still ranked so high.
Twitter - Social networking and micro blogging service utility.
LinkedIn - A networking tool to find connections to recommended job candidates, industry experts and business partners. Allows registered users to maintain a list of contact details of people they know and trust in business.
Skyrock - A social networking site really popular with the youth crowd.
Digg – Technology focused news site where the stories are chosen by community members rather than editors.
Yelp - Members share their favorite recommendations – everything from the latest restaurants and shops, to the best hair salons and spas, to doctors and yoga instructors.
Tagged - Tagged.com is fast becoming one of the top social networking sites in the world. Find your friends and meet new people. Chat, flirt, photos, games, and more.
